#8 Ranked Saints Advance to Third Round After Defeating #2 Ranked Sailfish

Sunday, Nov 23, St, Augustine, FLA – #8th ranked Flagler College Saints (15-2-6) advances to the third round of the NCAA Division II Men’s soccer tournament after upsetting the #2 ranked Palm Beach Atlantic University Sailfish (13-3-2) 2-0.
The Flagler College coach felt proud of his team, and he emphases how there's still more work to do.
“Today was a great day for Flagler Soccer. I've never felt prouder of the players on this team to get where they have gotten themselves today. Every player on this team gave 110% today. Now we need to focus our attention on our next opponent.” Said Coach Thomas Coombes.
In the 33rd minute, Saints forward Luke Williams put the Saints up 1-0 after using his left foot to score a goal. Then, in the 75th minute, Saints defender Fillip Hornburg passed a long ball to forward Tim Wahlborg. The Sailfish keeper was sent off his goal line to challenge for the long ball, but didn't get to it in time before Wahlborg could put it in the back of the net. Sealing the game for the Saints, 2-0. Wahlborg described his goal:
“I just was lucky enough to get such a great pass from Fillip, and I saw the keeper was off his line so I just had to pass it into the empty net.” Said Wahlborg.
The Saints put up 8 shots (6 shots on target), while the Sailfish put up 14 shots (5 shots on target). Saints goalkeeper Ryan Rivas got his 10th clean sheet of the season while putting up 5 saves. The Sailfish committed 11 fouls, while the Saints committed 16. Sailfish had more corners (8), then the Saints 3 corners. Wahlborg has 3 goals in his last 3 games, while Rivas has 5 lean sheets in his last 8.
The Saints look to continue their NCAA D II tournament run and improve their win streak to 6 games in all competitions against Rollins on Sunday, November 20th.
