The Michigan Wolverines haven't won a Men's Basketball Championship since 1989. To add to that, a Big Ten school hasn't won since 2000. Tonight, the Wolverines ended that drought with a win in the Final against UConn Coach Dan Hurley's Huskies 63 - 69.

The Huskies defense held the Wolverines top offense to just 69 points, nevertheless it still wasn't enough.

"We lost the game because we missed, we missed shots", said Hurley, in the post-game press conference.

Going into the Championship game, Michigan was a heavy favorite by six and a half points. Although they won by six points, UConn kept it a game until the end.

Former North Carolina player Elliot Cadeau was the Standout player for Michigan, scoring 19 points, and was named the Final Four Most Outstanding Player. While Yaxel Lendeborg put up 13 points.

UConn's Alex Karaban put up 17 points, 11 rebounds, and finished his college career with averaging 13 points per game and two National Championships with the Huskies.

Karaban, on being asked what he thought of his big performance in the post press conference:

"You know that's great and all, but I care about winning. I care about winning. I want to do everything. I have done everything in my power to help this program win. I want to do everything," said Karaban.

Michigan Head Coach Dusty May turned this Michigan Program around from the time he took over the job in March 2024, when Michigan was coming off an 8-24 season. Two years later, May led Michigan to a national championship.
