Since 2018, the senior associate athletic director has worked at Flagler College, overseeing men's golf, women's golf, and volleyball. In addition to these roles, he manages the department’s internal operations, including NCAA Division II compliance, athletic communications, and game-day management. A graduate of Hampden-Sydney College with a bachelor’s degree in mathematical economics, Green earned his master’s degree in sports leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Before joining Flagler College in 2018, Matt Green served as Athletic Director at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. While at Lincoln Memorial, he added three new sports teams, two of which won a conference final within their first two years. Since arriving at Flagler, Green has focused on developing student-athletes both off and on the field.

“My favorite thing about working in Division 2 is it provides a student with a great academic experience too.” Said Green.

Green grew up in a household where his mother was an educator, and his father was a football coach.

Green says, “I combined the two things I had a passion for, education and sports.”

In 2022–23, Green served on the NCAA Division II Legislation Committee and directed multiple regional and conference championships. That same year, Flagler student-athletes set NCAA II era records with a 3.22 department GPA and 217 honorees on the Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll.

Green believed that the most important aspect of working in the sports department is building relationships. Green said this about what he believed was the most important thing he learned at Flagler.

“To build relationships that are meaningful, not transactional,” Green said.

Now entering his fifth year at Flagler, Green hopes to continue his success as the

Senior Associate AD. And to help improve academics and athletics among our student-athletes.
