Saints Put Up 16 on Senior Day

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL – This afternoon at Drysdale Field, the Flagler Saints improved to (16-10) 5th in PBC play and 29-14 overall after today's win against the Claflin Panthers, who dropped to 4-32 in PBC play and 1-25 overall. The Saints hosted Claflin on the Saints' senior day, honoring this senior class.
After four innings, the Saints put up five runs, making the score five-zero. Panthers responded with three runs of their own in the fifth inning. With the Saints responding again with five more runs in the fifth.
In the eighth inning, Flagler put up six more runs to end the game because of the 10-run mercy rule. Ending the game with a final score of 6-16, Saints.
Flagler tallied 16 hits vs Claflin’s 10 this afternoon. Claflin’s pitching was shaky tonight as they gave the Saints hitters 13 walks. Olin Evans pitched for 4.2 while giving up 10 runs and 12 hits on the day for the Panthers.
Saints' pitcher Brayden Matthews pitched 5 innings while giving up 3 earned runs, while striking out 8 batters.
Eli Maddox went 3-for-6 with 5 RBIs and a run. George Gilson also had 2 hits, with a home run and 5 RBIs.
